Finding comfort in change

By: Susel Dépinoy

Have you ever heard of the 5 Love Languages? I took their little quiz and it turns out that my love language is “Words of Affirmation”; no wonder I am obsessed with pinning every single quote I see on Pinterest.

So when I read this quote, I was immediately drawn to it: Life is too short .. you want to be living it.. and not just existing”. Easier said than done, I know. Change can be scary, change can be hard, but change can also be exciting and fabulous!

Take me for example. After working 8 years at a company, the first job I’ve ever had after graduating from college, I was starting to feel restless, unchallenged, and unappreciated. I knew I needed to leave but my head was full of doubt; What if I don’t find anything else?  What if I don’t find something that will pay the same? What if I don’t like my new coworkers? But I took the plunge, as uncomfortable as it was at first, and started looking for other opportunities, and I am so happy that I took that first uncomfortable step. Turns out that yes, you can find another career path, and you do meet new amazing people! And this also made me realize that you are never stuck. You always have the choice to make a change in your life. A change for the better.

Another thing I am mindful about is my time. I’m sure you’ve heard it before “time is precious” but it’s definitely resonating with me now than ever before, because let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger! I want to spend my time with the people that I love, traveling more, exploring my passions {animals, fitness, nutrition}, and not waste any time on anything that will not help me grow as a person and live a life that I’m obsessed with!

What about you? Are you living the life you’re obsessed with? If not, what’s stopping you?
