Here’s the thing, listening to your body is easier said than done. I run a healthy food and lifestyle website and I still have a hard time tuning in and listening to my body instead of listening to what diet trends are hot or what workout I should be doing. 2018 is the year of being intuitive with my body and I’m pretty excited about it.
I started Fit Foodie Finds when I was in the middle of an eating disorder. There was a lot of calorie counting, binge eating, and everything in between. My thoughts about food and exercise took over my entire mind to the point that I could hardly concentrate on anything else. I have come a long way since then and I am so incredibly grateful. Every day during my recovery got a little bit easier and today, 7 years later, it is even easier to listen to that little voice inside that is telling me it’s okay to crave, to take breaks, and to do life.
So, 2018 is going to be the year that I continue in my journey to intuitive wellness. I am going to listen to my body when it tells me to take a rest day instead of pushing myself to workout. I am going to eat a donut and not feel bad about it. And I am going to decrease my screen time if that helps me conquer my insomnia. Little things like these are going to give me that piece of mind that healthy is about balance. Is it easy? Not every time, but it has been so interesting to feel the change in my mood and energy levels. I do give in to pressure still sometimes. The goal is not to be perfect. The goal is to give yourself a little grace and to do the best you can.
So, cheers to 2018 and to listening to your body. Cheers to all of the things we are going to learn about ourselves this year. I am going to eat delicious food that is made with whole and healthy ingredients, but I am also going to enjoy some delicious beer and pizza. I plan to move when my body is in the mood and to sit on the couch when it’s tired. Happy 2018!
